Now you know you’ve done everything right when a user of your product asks her mum “Can we come back tomorrow?” This is especially so when the product is an MRI machine.
David Kelley, the founder of the legendary design firm IDEO, gives a great talk about creative confidence and the moments when some of us lose this confidence, somethimes forever.
“That opting out [of creativity] that happens in childhood … moves in and becomes more ingrained by the time you get to adult life.” We must all help people to realise that creativity is an innate talent to be fostered and nurtured and not to shy away from. Kelley tells us he believe that when people gain this confidence they work on what is important in their lives and make better decisions. And he asks us not to divide the world into creatives and non-creatives.
I’m down with this.
